We've secured UKRI funding to bring Creddo to life
We're delighted to announce that we've been awarded funding through Innovate UK's Secure Software for Resilient Growth competition, part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), to develop Creddo, our new payments platform with security and privacy built in from the ground up.
Why this matters
Payment systems are under constant pressure from new threats. All too often, the measures required to keep things safe are bolted on after the fact rather than designed in from day one. Creddo takes a different approach: a payments platform where security and privacy are part of the core architecture, not an afterthought.
We're humbled to have received positive feedback from Innovate UK's independent assessors, who highlighted our "clearly novel, innovative approach", while noting that the project addresses a "clear market and security need", building on prior proof-of-concept work and the UK's wider payments strategy. We received particularly positive feedback around our team and our plan, describing it as "a clearly exemplary project team" with the right mix of expertise to deliver the work.
What the funding will do
This investment lets us move from concept to delivery - fleshing out our architecture, accelerating development, and getting Creddo ready for its pilot phase, which is currently planned for 2027.
What's next?
Over the coming months we'll be making preparations to start our first phase of work, which is scheduled to kick off this Summer. We're not ready to share all the technical detail yet - but we're looking forward to publishing more updates soon.
We're excited about what Creddo can offer the UK, and grateful to Innovate UK and our assessors for their support and constructive challenge throughout the process. Watch this space for updates as the project progresses!
